Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are getting a new look on iOS

Word, Excel, and Powerpoint are getting a new look on iOS”

Microsoft has pushed out a big update for its Office apps on iPad and iPhone, with importance changes coming to Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Each of the three apps has - in Microsoft's words - been made "simpler, faster and more lovely than before". Microsoft believes that the new designs are "simpler, faster and more attractive than before". In case you're wondering how the new XLOOKUP feature is different from the older VLOOKUP feature, here is how Microsoft puts it: "XLOOKUP is different from VLOOKUP in that it uses separate lookup and return arrays, where VLOOKUP uses a single table array followed by a column index number".

This latest refreshed design includes a simplified layout within the app that's split into three sections - Home, New, and Open.

The new polished UI is sure to please many users, especially those that are new, as it makes the app look simpler without removing any of the vast functionality that Office apps are known for. If you need to view recent documents or spreadsheets then they're all in the home section.

Among the Excel changes is XLOOKUP function integration that allows users to find values vertically and horizontally.

In addition to bringing the updated designs, the update to version 2.34 brings an Updated Alt Text Pane, which makes content more accessible.

First, Excel users now have the option to "read and reply on the fly".

This redesign seems like an odd move from Microsoft considering the company is in the middle of testing a single Office app that's created to integrate all the separate apps into one app to rule them all.
