Activision Blizzard games have been pulled from GeForce Now

Activision Blizzard games have been pulled from GeForce Now”

Activision Blizzard has pulled all of its games from the Nvidia GeForce Now streaming platform, according to Nvidia Staff on the GeForce forums.

This week, Activision Blizzard pulled its entire catalogue, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and Overwatch, from the monthly subscription service.

NVIDIA has not revealed the reasons behind this removal. But if you happen to cherish the platform's collection of Activision and Blizzard titles, you're out of luck: they've been rather unceremoniously removed.

Some of Bandai Namco's games are still supported by GeForce Now, such as SoulCalibur VI and the entire Dark Souls series, but CAPCOM and Square Enix chose to pull out their entire catalog from NVIDIA's recently launched service. We don't know if these moves are related, but the timing is suspect.

"Please be advised Activision Blizzard games will be removed from the service". It technically hasn't deprived customers of the content - it just changed the way you can access it. While the service was pricey when it first began, it's only £5 a month now.

Hoping to play Overwatch on GeForce Now? This is perhaps the most significant downside of streaming services - both video and game - where titles can get a limited run due to the nature of licensing agreements. There's just no way that a game streaming service that doesn't let you play Diablo, StarCraft and Battlefield is going to be able to gain and keep any kind of meaningful market-share.

They are still hoping to work together with Activision Blizzard to reenable their games and other games in the future.

NVIDIA assures its players though that while the issue with Activision Blizzard is ongoing, there are still more than 1,500 games onboarded to the service. We're seeing the other side of the coin now - if a game publisher decides it doesn't want to support GeForce Now, you could lose access to the titles you've been playing. Gloating about the number of games seems less effective than it would have been last week, though.
