Coronavirus: First case of Covid-19 confirmed in London

Coronavirus: First case of Covid-19 confirmed in London”

The first case of the deadly coronavirus has been confirmed in London, raising the United Kingdom's total number of cases to nine, according to local reports.

The news comes after a British man who unwittingly spread the deadly coronavirus, now known as COVID-19, to at least 11 people across three countries has been released from the hospital.

Dr Ryan added that this case did not, at this point, show that the virus had shifted or mutated, despite the fact Mr Walsh had not visited China.

The patient has been transferred to a specialist NHS centre at Guy's and St Thomas' in London.

"As soon as I knew I had been exposed to a confirmed case of coronavirus, I contacted my GP, NHS 111 and Public Health England".

The coronavirus has so far killed more than 1,100 people and infected over 45,000, with the vast majority of cases in mainland China.

Speaking out for the first time on Tuesday, Mr Walsh said he had "fully recovered" from the virus but remained in quarantine. The research was done after studying around 138 people diagnosed with Coronavirus in Wuhan.

Earlier, Professor Neil Ferguson, from the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Disease Analysis at Imperial College, London, told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme the world was "in the early phases of a global pandemic at the moment" and the true number of United Kingdom cases is higher than eight.

Public Health England is contacting a small number of patients who were seen by the A&E worker, who has since followed advice to self-isolate.

John Hoffman, chief executive of the GSMA which runs the event, said: "With due regard to the safe and healthy environment in Barcelona and the host country today, the GSMA has cancelled MWC Barcelona 2020 because the global concern regarding the coronavirus outbreak, travel concern and other circumstances make it impossible for the GSMA to hold the event".

The Chinese Grand Prix due to take place in Shanghai on April 19 has also been cancelled.

"I'm happy to be home and feeling well", Walsh said in a statement.

He earned his "super-spreader" moniker in reports because he stopped off for several days at a French ski chalet where five Britons, including a nine-year-old boy, were later infected with the virus.

The Scouting Association confirmed to Yahoo UK Mr Walsh has not been to any scout meetings since his return to the UK.

While 11 other people were infected because of him, Walsh has been recovering from this fatal disease.

The Bank of England governor has called coronavirus "bigger than SARS" from an economic perspective.
