Jeremy Roenick not returning to NBC

Jeremy Roenick not returning to NBC”

Roenick joined NBC Sports in 2010 as a studio analyst after playing 20 years in the National Hockey League, spending time with the Blackhawks, Coyotes, Flyers, Sharks and Kings.

Roenick was suspended from the network December 23 after the release of an episode of the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast.

The longtime NHL player-turned-broadcaster added he won't be gone for long and said he'd be back "better and more motivated to bring you the best entertainment and the best that I have for the game of hockey".

Former NHL player Jeremy Roenick won't be returning to NBC Sports, a network spokesperson confirmed Wednesday, a little more than a month after he was suspended without pay for making inappropriate comments about his coworkers while on a podcast.

After the podcast became an issue, the network suspended the commentator.

Jeremy Roenick announced on Wednesday that he will not rejoin the NBC Sports broadcast team after receiving a suspension for inappropriate comments he made on the December 19 edition of Barstool's "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast. "It's great", Roenick said about his wife and Tappen. On the show, he talked about being on vacation recently with his wife and Tappen, and Roenick made multiple references to Tappen's looks and the possibility of their having a threesome.

Later in the podcast, he also discussed how attractive he thinks former NHLer Patrick Sharp is in comparison to himself and Carter. The conversation moved over to whether or not Roenick, who was teammates with Sharp during their time on the Flyers, would sleep with Sharp.

"He is so lovely".

NBC said it would have no further comment. "It's good to have, again, a lovely face that talks well that knows the game because it's totally the opposite when me and Anson (Carter) get on there", the Boston-born hockey star added.

"I wouldn't say no right away", Roenick replied.

Later in the episode, Roenick spoke about Sharp's physical appearance as well. A Thayer Academy grad, he retired in 2009 after a 20-year National Hockey League career with five teams, mostly the Blackhawks and Coyotes.

During his time in Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and San Jose, Roenick tallied 1,216 points in 1,363 career games and made nine All-Star Games.
