Sorry, #BroomstickChallenge Participants - Your Broom Can Stand Any Day Of The Week”

A quite old trick has gone viral again and "NASA broom challenge" or the "gravitational pull day" has taken over Twitter.

NASA has spoken, and the space agency has to make a radical statement about the so-called broomstick challenge, the fascination of this week's social networks.

Numerous posters claimed NASA inspired them to give this a shot, citing a gravitational or celestial phenomenon as the cause of the balancing brooms. Several viral posts even suggested that NASA had "said" this to be true.

"Not trying to burst your bubble, but it's just the stiffness of the bristles that makes the broom stand", Phillips explained on social media.

"It's just physics", NASA astronaut Alvin Drew and scientist Sarah Noble just went Ron Burgundy and dropped the facts!

However, some determined people struggled to get their broom to stay up.

So what they're saying is that you can absolutely balance a broom to stand on its own any day and time of the year. Some users wrote that it wasn't rocket science, the brooms were meant to stand up all along. The center of gravity on a broom is low and rests right above the bristles.

Even so, Twitter users enjoyed NASA's tweet.

But it's still a fun challenge - and dozens of people tried it out Monday. "OH MY GOD?!?! I REBUKE THIS #BroomChallenge #Gravity", she wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of her broom standing in her kitchen.
