Astronaut welcomed home by excited pooch after a year in space

Astronaut welcomed home by excited pooch after a year in space”

The astronaut posted a sweet video on her Twitter when she was received by her dog after returning home.

"After 328 days in space, the first six days back on Earth were full of just as much wonder and excitement", said Koch in a press conference Thursday.

Koch landed in Kazakhstan on February 6 with European Space Agency astronaut Luca Parmitano and Russian cosmonaut Alexader Skvortskov.

It's clear her adorable doggo is ecstatic to finally have her home.

Koch, who left Earth in March previous year, took part in the first all-female spacewalk in October with colleague Jessica Meir. "I'm glad you remember me after a year!"

"We call her LBD, little brown dog". She made a point of taking it to the beach with her husband, three days after she landed in Kazakhstan, according to Sky News.

"It just looked exactly like you might see in the pictures except way more brighter, way more real, and I literally exclaimed, I just said, 'Oh my goodness!' It was just phenomenal, and it was that moment when I realized I had just left our planet", Koch said.

The electrical engineer-turned astronaut said she counted herself lucky to not have suffered more serious ailments.

"We are celebrating our 20th year of continuous presence aboard the International Space Station in low Earth orbit this season, and we are on the point of sending the first girl and next guy to the moon 2024", said NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine.

From previous research on astronauts, scientists know that microgravity affects our bodies in different ways.

Side-effects include a significant loss of bone density and a drop in muscle mass, Business Insider reported a year ago. Kevin Moffat, who specializes in human physiology in extreme environments, told Business Insider. "I can not wait to feel and hear Earth again".
