Damian Lillard to miss All-Star weekend, hopes Devin Booker gets his spot

Damian Lillard to miss All-Star weekend, hopes Devin Booker gets his spot”

Lillard exited with 3:22 left in the fourth quarter in what was then a 12-point deficit.

Memphis Grizzlies standout rookie Ja Morant gave a quick reaction to Devin Booker being named as Damian Lillard's All-Star replacement. "Those festivities and having fun, but my health is first". He said he would still attend the game and be part of the weekend but won't be able to play. "Hopefully somebody who should've been there that didn't make it [will take my place], but unfortunately I had to be the fall guy".

According to Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes, Lillard did not hear a pop when he injured his groin, something that Haynes adds is a great sign. Clarke is averaging 12.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while he is shooting 62.3% from the field this season, which ranks fifth in the National Basketball Association among all players. He's been on a tear during the last month, averaging 38.4 points and 9.4 assists while hitting 5.5 3-pointers per game.

"I mean when it happened, I just felt it", Lillard told reporters post-game.

The Blazers next game is on February 21st against the Pelicans.

At 25-31, the Blazers will be hoping Lillard can make a speedy return as they continue their push for a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Damian Lillard is scheduled for an MRI after suffering a groin strain.
