Red Bull’s RB16 breaks cover ahead of shakedown

Red Bull’s RB16 breaks cover ahead of shakedown”

The initial season of the Red Bull-Honda relationship yielded the highest points return that Verstappen has scored in his Formula One career to date, improving on his 2018 total of 249-points to 278-points.

The new model includes a unique nose with double grooving as well as the same navy and red colours that have characterised the team.

With the RB16 already showing "a lot of promise on the sim" according to Verstappen's team mate Alex Albon, who was at Silverstone yesterday to watch Verstappen shake down the vehicle during a filming day, the other piece of the puzzle Red Bull need to be firing on all cylinders is their Honda power units.

Verstappen was the driver charged with taking the RB16 around the Silverstone track, with Albon waiting for his turn next week in Barcelona.

Meanwhile, Albon added that his helmet is similar to last year's, but with a few tweaks.

The auto is more neatly packaged at the rear, too, in the second year of the Honda partnership, with Red Bull team principal Christian Horner telling RACER that this year's power unit is "a lovely installation".

Red Bull also signed an extension with fuel and lubricants supplier ExxonMobil.

The British-based team finished third in last year's Formula One constructors' championship, with Verstappen winning three races on the way to also taking third place in the drivers' standings. "With the Red Bull colors, I think it looks really good".
