Bernie Sanders speaks after New Hampshire primary

Bernie Sanders speaks after New Hampshire primary”

Blankfein, who was the chairman of Wall Street bank Goldman Sachs GS.N during the financial crisis, tweeted the criticism about Sanders as the US senator from Vermont led the New Hampshire primary Tuesday night.

Sanders defeated Pete Buttigieg in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday, making him the new national frontrunner for the Democratic nomination.

Asked Wednesday if he agreed with Blankfein's comment that a President Sanders would "ruin" the economy, Mnuchin, in comments to journalists after testifying in Congress, said, "I think Lloyd Blankfein couldn't be more right on that".

Bernie Sanders won over New Hampshire voters, but not everyone's impressed.

He has contributed largely to Democratic social gathering candidates and endorsed Hillary Clinton within the 2016 presidential election.

Proposals from the Vermont senator and fellow 2020 candidate Elizabeth Warren to tax billionaires and address wealth inequality have drawn the ire of those on Wall Street.

After Trump's acquittal during the impeachment trial in the US Senate, Sanders suggested that Trump could be impeached on more violations than just the controversial phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Even Feliz Shakir, Sanders' campaign manager, responded to Blankfein, tweeting: "this is what panic from Wall Street elite looks and sounds like".

This is not the first time the two have had a public argument.

He and Senator Elizabeth Warren of MA have faced continued disdain from Wall Street for their full-throated attacks on corporate excess and support for new taxes on billionaires to tackle wealth inequality.

The former investment banker is a registered Democrat but has previously referred to himself as a "Rockefeller Republican", according to CNBC.
