US Navy seizes HUGE Iranian missiles cache in Arabian Sea raid

US Navy seizes HUGE Iranian missiles cache in Arabian Sea raid”

It did not say what kind of surface-to-air missiles were seized.

U.S. warships intercepted and seized Iranian arms likely bound for Houthi fighters in Yemen on a number of occasions.

"On Feb. 9, 2020, USS Normandy (CG 60), while conducting maritime security operations in the US Central Command area of operations, boarded a dhow in accordance with global law and discovered a large cache of weapons", US Central Command said in a statement.

Other weapons were also Iranian design and manufacture, including three surface-to-air missiles, thermal imaging weapon scopes, components for unmanned aerial and surface vessels, as well as other munitions and advanced weapons parts.

Video published by the U.S. military showed troops approaching the vessel in a small boat and boarding with guns drawn.

"USS Normandy, while conducting maritime security operations in the U.S. Central Command area of operations, boarded a dhow in accordance with worldwide law and discovered a large cache of weapons", read the statement.

The terrifying cache included 150 "Dehlavieh" anti-tank guided missiles, which are Iranian-manufactured copies of Russian Kornets.

The military said the weapons seized were "identical" to those seized by another USA warship in November.

Iran has denied providing weapons to the Houthi rebels, who have taken credit for staging attacks on neighbouring Saudi Arabia, since the conflict in Yemen broke out nearly five years ago.

Under a United Nations resolution, Tehran is prohibited from supplying, selling or transferring weapons unless approved by the Security Council.

They are now being examined by worldwide weapons inspectors.

Despite the rhetoric, former General David Petraeus said it's unlikely Iran would start a war with Israel because of the excessive force Iran would encounter. The assessment of the material will be an interagency and worldwide effort.
