Pak Cricket Board suspends Umar Akmal pending anti-corruption investigation”

This means Akmal can not take part in any cricket-related activity until the PCB Anti-corruption Unit (ACU) is investigating him.

"Quetta Gladiators are allowed to apply for Umar Akmal's replacement in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2020", PCB further added in its statement.

All-rounder Anwar Ali will replace suspended batsman Umar Akmal in the Quetta Gladiators line-up for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 following the event's technical committee's approval, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced on Thursday.

Akmal is being investigated under Article 4.7.1 of the PCB Anti-Corruption Code.

The PCB has not specified the reasons for Akmal's suspension citing the ongoing investigation under Article 4.7.1 of the board's Anti-Corruption Code for Participants, which came into effect in 2015.

Last week, the PCB reprimanded Akmal but did not sanction the batsman for his alleged misbehavior with a staff member after a failed fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore.

Subsequently, the PCB had conducted an inquiry, which had concluded that the incident was the result of a "misunderstanding", Dawn reported.

Often described as a talented yet undisciplined cricketer, Umar has played 16 Tests, 121 one-day internationals and 84 Twenty20 internationals since his debut in 2009.

Pakistan cricketer Umar Akmal was savagely trolled on Twitter after a screenshoot of a tweet went viral for its hysterically amusing caption.

It has been a long time since India and Pakistan have played a bilateral series.
