The Computer Scientist Responsible For Cut, Copy, And Paste, Has Passed Away”

Mr Tesler started working in Silicon Valley in the early 1960s, at a time when computers were inaccessible to the vast majority of people.

Xerox paid tribute to the pioneer in a tweet Wednesday afternoon, writing "The inventor of cut/copy & paste, find & replace, and more was former Xerox researcher Larry Tesler".

The command later became the most commonly used user-interface for both text editors and entire computer operating systems.

The news of Mr Tesler's death was divulged to the world in a tweet by Xerox, a USA tech company where he worked with before his death.

Xerox, the company where he spent part of his career, tweeted: 'Your workday is easier thanks to his revolutionary ideas.

Tesler graduated from Stanford University with a degree in mathematics in 1965. "Larry passed away Monday, so please join us in celebrating him", the company said. The cut and paste command is reportedly inspired by old-time editing which mainly involved cutting portions of printed text and fixing them elsewhere with paste.

In addition to his contributions to some of Apple's most famous hardware, Tesler was also known for his efforts to make software and user interfaces more accessible.

If you're a regular user of the Internet, a function that you should be extremely familiar with is the Copy-Cut-Paste.

Tesler worked with Apple Computer where he held countless positions at the company.

He spent 17 years at Apple, becoming chief scientist.

In 1979, Tesler was assigned to show Apple co-founder Steve Jobs around Xerox PARC, including the tour in which Jobs and a few other Apple employees got to see Xerox's Alto computer in action. According to his CV, Tesler left 23andMe in 2009 and from then on mostly focused on consulting work.
