Back to work in China virus epicentre as restrictions eased

Back to work in China virus epicentre as restrictions eased”

The NHC said 41 new verified COVID-19 instances were reported to the Chinese mainland on Friday in the folks coming from overseas, taking the entire amount of imported cases to 269.

Meanwhile in the United States, almost one in four Americans were told to stay home starting Saturday.

It comes as Beijing and Washington are engaged in a tit-for-tat public opinion war over China's recent mass expulsion of United States journalists and President Donald Trump's continued use of the phrase "Chinese virus" to describe the coronavirus.

The move comes after the country decided a return to a more normal way of life should begin after the number of new domestic coronavirus COVID-19 infections dropped dramatically this week, according to official reports.

Li's treatment by police prompted public calls for the Wuhan government to apologise, especially as the city's authorities were accused of covering up the outbreak in its early days.

The virus, which emerged in a market that sold wild animals in December, sparked a dramatic lockdown of the city on January 23 that was then widened to the rest of the province of almost 60 million people.

Over the weekend, the first train arrived allowing more than 1,000 workers to travel from elsewhere in Hubei province to Wuhan for work, according to the report. The vicious virus broke out in city, reportedly at a live animal market in December a year ago and became virulent inflicting thousands of people in the city and province catching the government off guard.

Since then infections have slowed dramatically and for five straight days there have been no new cases in Hubei.

In many cases it is less than two months since they closed as the COVID-19 epidemic took hold of the country. By the end of Sunday, 353 imported cases were reported, the NHC said.

Chinese authorities have been reporting zero cases of local infection of the CCP virus, but residents in China are telling us a different story.

The government announced that starting on Monday, it will land all global flights to Beijing at other domestic airports to quarantine passengers.

"I think within my brother and buddy Xi Jinping and that I think in China's aid", Vucic said.

Another case was reported by a US news agency called The Daily Beast.

However, the NHC has not specified whether the imported cases were that of foreigners or Chinese nationals arriving from overseas.

Passengers would go through entry procedures and quarantine measures at the designated cities' airports before they continue their flights to Beijing, Liu said, urging travellers to reserve enough time for their next flights to make sure that they do not miss their outbound flights.

"Is that it?" said one user on China's Twitter-like Weibo, where news of the report was the top read topic, with over 160 million views, on Thursday evening.
