Utah Jazz's Gobert temporarily loses sense of smell

Utah Jazz's Gobert temporarily loses sense of smell”

Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert's coronavirus symptoms have progressed into unusual territory, more than a week after his positive test that precipitated the shutdown of major North American sports.

"Just to give you an update, the loss of smell and taste is definitely one of the symptoms, I haven't felt anything in the past 4 days", Wrote Gobert.

The Jazz forward, who was the first National Basketball Association player to test positive for COVID-19, on Sunday tweeted some of the effects he's felt while self-quarantining.

The NCAA canceled March Madness and all spring championships and all other professional leagues suspended their seasons following the news.

Gobert has since apologized for his carelessness and urged the public to not repeat his mistake of not taking the virus seriously. "Anyone experiencing the same thing?"

Nine other National Basketball Association players, including Gobert's teammate Donovan Mitchell, also tested positive for the coronavirus. However, players like Kevin Durant and Marcus Smart have openly made their positive tests known in an effort to promote awareness and encourage common citizens to follow guidelines put in place by public health officials.

The experts added that many patients who have tested positive for the coronavirus are only experiencing loss of smell or taste without symptoms of a high fever or a dry cough.

The cavalier stunt took a serious turn after it emerged he had tested positive.
