'Contagion' medical consultant tests positive for coronavirus”

A medical consultant on Contagion, the 2011 movie about a fictional pandemic, has now tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The renowned professor announced the news on Tuesday during a live television interview with Fox Business's Lou Dobbs.

Lipkin, who serves as the director of Columbia University's Center for Infection and Immunity, was one of the leading figures in the scientific studies of the West Nile virus and the SARS coronavirus in the early 2000s.

He went on to say, "I would just like to say on this show tonight that this has become very personal for me too, because I have COVID as of yesterday". "If it can hit me, it can hit anybody".

"Contagion" medical consultant Ian Lipkin stressed that social distancing was the best tool in combating the virus' spread. The disaster flick directed by Steven Soderberg starred Kate Winslet, Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard and Gwyneth Paltrow.

During the interview, Lipkin asserted that if he can contract the virus, anyone can.

"If it can hit me, it can hit anybody", he cautioned, saying he's not 100 percent certain where he got it but adding that "this virus is all over the United States". It's extraordinarily important that we harmonise whatever restrictions we have across the country because we have porous borders between states, between cities.

"Unless we're consistent, we're not going to get ahead of this thing", he said.

"We really don't know when we're going to get this under control", Lipkin said.

Among other things, Lipkin talked about potential treatments that are now being explored for the virus. Some provinces and territories have also implemented additional recommendations or enforcement measures to ensure those returning to the area self-isolate.

Health officials caution against all global travel.
