Amanda Peet and Christian Slater star in the second season of anthology true crime series Dirty John, which became a hit when it first premiered in 2018.

The real-life Betty Broderick received 32 years in prison for killing her husband and his second wife, Linda, on November 5, 1989. She says Dan's "in control of everything". But then Dan hired a young woman named Linda as his legal assistant.

Dan and Linda began an affair, and in 1985, he announced he was leaving Betty.

Welcome to one of America's messiest divorces. The series will include the early days of their relationship in the 1960s, their marriage in 1969, much-publicized divorce in 1986 and the time leading up to and following Betty killing Dan and his second wife, Linda, on November 5, 1989.

Later in the footage, Betty explains, "I was married for 16 years". Her first trial ended with a hung jury, according to the Los Angeles Times in 1991. "Then he turns 40 and he's walking out with a 19-year-old and a sports vehicle", the character of Betty says in the trailer. He had his wife committed to a psych ward and "robbed" her children through a court order, while Betty crashed her vehicle into his home and spray painted his walls. "I'm not the insane one, he is", she adds, shortly before she's seen spray-painting the inside of someone's house and driving her auto into someone's front door. And in 1992, Meredith Baxter starred in A Woman Scorned: The Betty Broderick Story, with Stephen Collins playing Dan. Baxter was nominated for an Emmy for her performance.

USA Network has released the trailer for Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story, the second installment in the Dirty John anthology series starring Amanda Peet (Brockmire, Togetherness, The Good Wife) and Golden Globe victor Christian Slater (Mr. Robot, Dr. Death, True Romance). In the meantime, Dirty John season 1 - which tells the story of Debra Newell and John Meehan - is available to stream on Netflix now.
