Dolly Parton to read children’s book in new video series

Dolly Parton to read children’s book in new video series”

It's proven to help immensely with developing an early interest in reading for children, and the books have been used as bedtime stories for countless families over the years.

The 74-year-old will read a book from her Imagination Library, a literacy programme she started in 1995 which delivers books to youngsters in the US, UK and beyond. Event pages have been created by the Facebook page for the upcoming readings, which will go live every Thursday evening at 7 p.m. ET.

The series is due to launch on Thursday 2 April in the U.S., with Rolling Stone reporting that it will last for 10 weeks. "I think God is in this, I really do", Parton says, adding that she believes God has a positive lesson of love and acceptance to be learned.

Dolly Parton knows a thing or two about the power and influence books can have on the minds of future readers and music fans.

Additionally, the documentary about her Imagination Library, The Library That Dolly Built, will open nationally the week of September 21 to commemorate the Library's 25th anniversary.

"I think it is pretty clear that now is the time to share a story and to share some love", she continued. "It is an honor for me to share the incredible talent of these authors and illustrators". The country singer will also read stories such as "I Am a Rainbow", "Pass It On", "Stand Tall Molly Lou Mellon" and "Coat of Many Colours".

It appears Parton may not encounter any legal issues with publishers with her plans to read storybooks to children on Facebook. The country legend has announced that she will be spending her time in self-isolation in the most wholesome way imaginable. After Burton noted the potential legal problems involved, Neil Gaiman and other authors offered their personal book catalogs for Burton to use free of charge. Book publishers like HarperCollins also did the same, offering children's book titles that will also be used for this goal. Frankly, with not much else to do and with many movie and television productions shutting down, many adults could certainly get some enjoyment out of the readings as well.

Dolly Parton has chose to put her soothing tones to good use during the coronavirus pandemic as she's set to treat thousands to bedtime stories.
