Fifa approves extended player contracts and later transfer windows”

Federation Internationale de Football Association has approved guidelines recommending clubs extend players' contracts set to expire in June and said it will allow transfer windows to be moved to help clubs through the financial difficulties being caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

As a result, football's return remains up in the air as we head into what should have been a busy summer of matches and tournaments.

The world football governing body FIFA is planning to extend the 2019/20 season indefinitely, which will allow domestic leagues to decide how to conclude their seasons, the majority of which were initially scheduled to end in April and May but were disrupted due to the COVID-19 outbreak, The Athletic sports news portal reported. Many are likely right to point out that the current state with contracts running out on June 30 could come before the season formally resumes and they have been asking for some form of clarification.

Fifa calls for end of contract and transfervinduer in the world of football follow the new season dates.

A statement explained: "Expiring player contracts usually end when the season ends, with a termination date that coincides with the end of the season".

"It is now obvious that the current season will not end when people thought it would".

The measures will see contracts being able to be extended past their cut off date and transfer windows moved to accommodate the season being able to be finished. It is in accordance with the parties ' original intentions when the contracts were signed.

- With regard to transfervinduer, so it is again necessary to adapt the normal law to the new, in fact, the case.

"Accordingly, FIFA will be flexible and will allow the relevant transfer windows to be moved so they fall between the end of the old season and the start of the new season", it said.

FIFA has also looked at football employment agreements during this crisis and "strongly encourages clubs and players to work together to find agreements and solutions during the period when football is suspended".

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said the pandemic changed plans for this season across the globe, but that human health was more important than football.

"Whilst this will not solve each and every problem, it should serve to bring a measure of stability and clarity to football for the foreseeable future".
