Robert Downey Jr. will shoot Netflix series in the comic sweet Tooth”

Thanks to the success of Marvel's Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr is not just one of the biggest superstars on the planet (even if Dolittle was a ginormous bomb), but one of the richest too. However, it looks like the Iron Man actor has got his hands on an intriguing property.

After there were reports of the order which was revealed last month, the streaming giant Netflix has confirmed the news that they have given a series order to a television adaptation to Sweet Tooth. He was set to produce the series at Hulu in 2018, but that didn't pan out.

Sweet Tooth comes from the mind of Ontario's own Jeff Lemire and takes place in an apocalyptic world where animal-human hybrids live.

Executive producers include Robert Downey Jr. of the Downey team, Susan Downey and Amanda Burrell; and Linda Moran.

The family-friendly series will tell of Gus, a part deer / part boy hybrid who leaves his home in the forest to find the outside world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. Jim Mickle, who's behind shows like Hap and Leonard and movies like In the Shadow of the Moon, will serve as a director and will be a co-showrunner alongside Beth Schwartz (The CW's Arrow).

Downey Jr. won't be lending his star power to the cast, which isn't looking too shabby anyway as it now has Christian Convery ("Beautiful Boy"), Nonso Anozie ("Game of Thrones"), Adeel Akhtar ("The Big Sick") and Will Forte ("The Last Man on Earth") set to star.

Netflix hit it out of the park with its The Witcher adaptation and has been doing quite well with every other project that it is picking up.

Sweet Tooth is now getting the Netflix Treatment!
