'Avatar 2' set photo reveals Kate Winslet amid underwater filming”

Earlier this week, it was reported that the franchise has a combined budget of over $1 billion.

The Avatar sequels may now have their live-action filming on hold - though much of it was completed previous year - but Cameron is working hard to meet the release date set for the first of the four planned sequels. Avatar 2 is due to release on 17 December, 2021, with the subsequent instalments planned for December 2023, December 2025 and December 2027 - try not to think about how old you'll be when all this is done. Can't say we'd want to swap with the cast in this case.

Although the filmmaker is not quite working the way he had hoped to on the sequel, he hopes that New Zealand's aggressive response to the virus could mean there will be no release date delays. So it's all on hold right now, ' Cameron said from his home in Malibu. We were about to shoot down in New Zealand, so that got pushed. We're trying to get back to it as quick as we can'.

"So there's a very good chance that our shoot might be delayed a couple of months, but we can still do it. So that's good news", he told Empire for the new Celebration Of Cinema issue. "But my work is on the stage doing the virtual cameras and so on, so I can do a bit of editing, but it's not great for me", Cameron added. And as a flashback to when his cast and crew were able to film scenes for the follow-ups to the 2009 hit, a new post from the mammoth movies' official twitter feed shows there was a lot of time in water tanks for the likes of Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Kate Winslet and Cliff Curtis.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver and Stephen Lang starred in the original sci-fi action epic about the alien planet of Pandora where a race of lanky, tall blue aliens live in harmony with the world around them, only to be forced to defend their home from invading human forces.
