Actor Fred Willard has died at 86, reports say”

The comedian was best known for roles in films "Best in Show" and "This is a Spinal Tap", and TV's "Modern Family".

The beloved star with several acting credits - including "Best in Show", "This is Spinal Tap" and "Everybody Loves Raymond" - died of natural causes, his daughter confirmed to Fox News. He is survived by his daughter, Hope and one grandson.

Jamie Lee Curtis, wife of Willard's longtime director Christopher Guest, first shared news of the actor's death in a tweet Saturday. "He kept moving, working and making us happy until the very end".

His death comes less than two years after his wife Mary died at 71. Thanks for the deep belly laughs. "We will miss him forever". "We were so lucky to know Fred Willard and will miss his many visits", talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel wrote.

Willard seemed to be in good health in his 80s, and he even has a recurring role in Netflix's upcoming comedy series Space Force, where he'll be playing Steve Carell's father.

Filmmaker Judd Apatow posted on Twitter: "Fred Willard could not have been funnier". On Everybody Loves Raymond, he portrayed Hank MacDougall, Robert's conservative father-in-law, earning himself Emmy nominations for three consecutive years.

"Fred Willard was the funniest person that I've ever worked with".

Writer and producer Larry Karaszewski also tweeted that he remembers Willard as a "very amusing man" while filmmaker Adam Best said the actor "always had us laughing so hard it hurt".
