Coronavirus: Trump mulls cutting US-China ties”

U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that his administration asked to cut ties between the federal retirement funds and Chinese equities, as the pandemic continues to sour U.S. "America is strong and we will come out of this crisis, but China must be forced to face the facts and take accountability for their actions", he said.

"The bill, introduced by several U.S. senators, absolutely neglects facts. And cutting off the economic relationship would badly damage the American economy", he said.

"These companies have to get on the ball because they're going not only to China - you look at where they're going - they're going to India and they're going to Ireland and they're going all over the place, they make them", Trump said.

Last year, China Commerce Ministry spokesperson announced that both USA and the Chinese government have agreed that they will lift the imposed tariffs simultaneously that worth $11 billion.

President Trump signalled a further deterioration of his relationship with China over the COVVID-19 outbreak, telling reporters that he has no interest in speaking to Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Now, the more than $500 billion trade agreement between the USA and China is now on the brink.

"China and the United States should now strengthen cooperation in combating the COVID-19 epidemic in order to defeat the coronavirus as soon as possible, cure patients, resume production, and develop the economy", the spokesman said.

The Trump administration, which has been mulling ways to punish or seek compensation from Beijing for the damage caused by the pandemic, is examining Chinese companies that trade on USA stock exchanges but do not follow US accounting rules, Trump said.

"We can stop them, they're going to try doing it", he said.

"There are many things we could do".

Trump said Thursday that while he still suspects the outbreak may be connected to a virology lab in Wuhan, China, he said it was unlikely the Chinese deliberately unleashed the pathogen.

"The ink was barely dry and the plague came over". "Move manufacturing back to the U.S. from China and gradually eliminate our supply chain dependency on China". Now if you did, what would happen?

"The Baltic travel bubble is an opportunity for businesses to reopen, and a glimmer of hope for the people that life is getting back to normal", Lithuanian prime minister Saulius Skvernelis said in a statement. "I'm very disappointed in China".

The rising disagreement between China and the U.S. got here as Brazil handed the grim milestone of 200,000 infections, with slightly below 14,000 deaths.
