Oxford University’s Covid-19 vaccine shows promise

Oxford University’s Covid-19 vaccine shows promise”

The maker of Lucky Strike cigarette said once it gets approval from the US Food and Drug administration (FDA) for the vaccine, it would progress to Phase 1 trials or testing on humans.

Researchers reported on the vaccine that six monkeys were vaccinated during the test before being given a heavy dose of corona. The main "ingredients" include the spike protein structure of COVID-19 and the adenovirus vaccine vector.

The potential novel coronavirus vaccine is being developed by scientists at Oxford University's Jenner Institute.

About 140 past and present world leaders have urged that any eventual COVID-19 vaccines and treatments should be made available to the world free of charge. But the virus still appeared active in the nose.

In the process of developing the vaccine, it is considered very important to succeed on the monkeys.

"It is helpful to see that monkeys vaccinated with this SARS CoV2 vaccine did not have any evidence of enhanced lung pathology and that, despite some evidence of upper respiratory tract infection by SARS COV2 after high viral load virus challenge, monkeys given the vaccine did not have any evidence of pneumonia", Dr Penny Ward, Visiting Professor in Pharmaceutical Medicine at King's College London said.

Professor Evans says, "One of the good things, in this case, is that vaccines that don't work, instead of giving protection, often make the disease worse".

Some other countries of the world are also undergoing trials of coronavirus vaccine, which have reached the stage of human trials.

Researchers have reported that by May 13, almost a thousand people who volunteered for this research have been vaccinated as a trial.

Earlier on Friday, President Donald Trump announced what he called "Operation Warp Speed" to develop a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as possible, hopefully making inoculations available by the end of the year.

The World Health Assembly must forge a global agreement that ensures rapid universal access to quality-assured vaccines and treatments with need prioritized above the ability to pay.
The vaccine has to be used to prevent the corona virus from being infected in a wider population.
