CBS All Access Orders 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds'

CBS All Access Orders 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds'”

The show is a spinoff of Star Trek Discovery and focuses on three of its characters: Anson Mount's Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn's Number One and Ethan Peck's Spock, shortly before Captain Kirk joins the Enterprise. All Access announced past year that it was developing a series centred on Michelle Yeoh's character from "Discovery".

So whereas particulars are scant, it seems Strange New Worlds will bridge the hole between Pike, Spock and Quantity One's encounter with the Discovery crew and the occasions of the Star Trek: The Authentic Series story "The Menagerie" which revealed Pike's final (grisly) destiny. Aaron Baiers, Akela Cooper and Davy Perez are co-executive producers. While we patiently wait for Star Trek: Discovery season 3 - which has reportedly been delayed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic - CBS has gone ahead and announced a brand new Star Trek series.

Anson Mount as Captain Pike was without a doubt the highlight of "Star Trek: Discovery" season two.

My caution remains because I haven't been thrilled with the writing and creative decisions made on both Discovery and Picard, and Strange New Worlds, no matter its mission, is likely to have some of the same guiding hands behind the scenes.

The news comes after the Star Trek franchise's notoriously strong-willed fanbase lobbied for more from the characters, and the new show will mark CBS All Access's third foray into the universe after Discovery and the Patrick Stewart-led Star Trek: Picard. The series will be produced by Up News Info Television Studios, Secret Hideout, and Roddenberry Entertainment. "These iconic characters have a deep historical past in Star Trek's canon, but a lot of their tales have but to be advised".

Star Trek is getting fitted with a new series - and one that will bring back a pile of fan favourites.

CBS All Access is CBS' direct-to-consumer digital subscription video on-demand and live streaming service.

Given current world events, chances are we'll be waiting for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for a while, but this is definitely exciting news, and the franchise's future clearly lies on the small screen.

CBS Television Studios is one of the industry's leading suppliers of programming with more than 70 series now in production across broadcast and cable networks, streaming services and other emerging platforms. That said, you can bet your most prized item of Star Trek memorabilia that as soon as the coast is clear, the franchise will once again boldly go where it's never gone before.
