Former Bama QB Taulia Tagovailoa Transfers to Maryland”

University of Maryland football coach Michael Locksley has announced that quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa has joined the Terrapin football program.

He announced the decision Friday on Twitter. Thank you to my Pastors & my family for always interceding on my behalf, " Tagovailoa said. After showing in 5 video games with Alabama final season and finishing 9-of-12 passes for 100 yards and a landing, Tagovailoa has three years of eligibility remaining, however will possible have to take a seat out the 2020 season.

"I'm so excited to start the next chapter of my career at the University of Maryland", said Tagovailoa. While a number of promising arms have made their way to College Park, a plethora of injury problems - as well as an inability to compete for top-tier names - have made the position unstable. I have a great relationship with Coach [Michael] Locksley and am excited to see what he's building. God bless & Go Terps! In 2018, the Locksley-Tua Tagovailoa combination helped Alabama set school records for points scored (623), single-season total offense (6,859 yards) and passing yards (4,231) in a season. Although Tua played under Locksley at Alabama, Taulia just missed him, as Locksley is entering his second year with the Terrapins.

Taulia was a four-star Rivals.com recruit out of high school, which he finished in Alabama after his family moved to the Tuscaloosa area from Hawaii while Tua finished school.

"Taulia has outstanding field vision and excellent pocket awareness", Locksley mentioned in a press release. Taulia has terrific touch and trajectory on his throws and delivers the ball with above-average accuracy. But I do know this, at Thompson High School he put up a lot of numbers, threw the ball really accurately, has great athleticism in the pocket and is a victor.
