Lynn Shelton Partner And Collaborator Marc Maron Issues Statement On Her Death”

The name Lynn Shelton may not be immediately recognizable, but filmgoers and television viewers certainly know her work well.

As previously reported, Shelton died of a 'previously unidentified blood disorder, ' according a statement from her reps provided to The Hollywood Reporter.

Shelton's partner, the comedian and actor Marc Maron, issued a statement published by IndieWire saying that she had collapsed that morning after being sick for a week with a "previously unknown, underlying condition".

"I'm in complete shock that this vibrant, talented, and soulful filmmaker is no longer with us", she began. Her spirit was pure joy. Moreover, she also worked on one episode of the critically acclaimed Mad Men, the series that made AMC one of the biggest networks. "And then I just have to make sure not to not to laugh too hard and ruin every take". We butted heads, made up, laughed, pushed each other. I can't believe I'm typing this. "This is a horrendous, sad loss".

"I self-generated my work, and I never went around asking permission to make it", Shelton told The Times in 2014 "The main reason women make inroads in independent film is that no one has to say, 'I pick you.' I'm not pounding on anybody's door".

Director Lynn Shelton began making films in her mid-30s

The groundbreaking director was best known for her films Humpday (2009), Your Sister's Sister (2011), Outside In (2017) and Sword of Trust (2019).

Her television work included numerous episodes for such series as "Little Fires Everywhere", "Master of None", "Casual", "The Mindy Project", "The Morning Show" and "GLOW".

Most recently, she directed Marc Maron's new Netflix special, End Times Fun, and four of the eight episodes of Little Fires Everywhere, which only premiered on Hulu two months ago. Among her films, she directed "Humpday" and "Your Sister's Sister", both starring Mark Duplass, as well as "Outside", with Edie Falco. The fact that she's gone now, in the midst of her creative prime, is absolutely tragic. She made me better. Her passing is a loss that will be deeply felt by the film industry, and we are truly saddened to have lost such a vital and unique filmmaking voice. She moved to NY and pursued a Master of Fine Arts in photography and related media at the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan. Her memory lives on in our vivid days together on set and in her wonderful films. Her films tap-danced through the human experience.

The Oberlin, Ohio-born Shelton is survived by her son Milo Seal, whom she shared with her ex-husband, actor and MTV VJ Kevin Seal.
