La Loche Health Centre long term care outbreak declared over”

The latest Saskatchewan Health numbers show another day with only one new COVID-19 case and several recoveries.

To date, the provincial total for COVID-19 cases is 582.

11 more people have recovered from the virus, bringing the provincial recovery total to 444. To be eligible for the program, a worker must earn less than $24 per hour at an eligible essential care facility in the four-week period for which the worker applied for the supplement.

According to the province, eight people are in hospital; five are receiving inpatient care and three patients are in intensive care.

Phase three includes opening restaurants, gyms and child care centres, however it is now unclear on when Saskatchewan will begin this part of their reopening.

Saskatchewan has 152 active cases, with over 83 per cent of them being in the far north, which has 127 active cases. Of the total cases, 192 are considered active.

The number of cases in southern Saskatchewan is unchanged at 15.

As of Saturday there have been 591 cases of COVID-19 in Saskatchewan. There are 164 cases in Saskatoon, 106 cases in the north, 76 cases in Regina, 15 cases from the south and 12 cases from the central region.

The public is reminded that during the COVID-19 pandemic to please take precautions to protect yourself, your families and everyone who lives in the community.

Northern medical health officer Dr. Rim Zayed cautions in a news release that exhaustive work continues as the health authority and local community leaders work together to curtail the spread of COVID-19 in the area.
