Ronaldo back training at Juventus after two months”

Portuguese global striker Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Juventus Turin training center on Tuesday after more than two months on confinement to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Portuguese superstar travelled back to Italy from Madeira two weeks ago, having spent time on his native island during the coronavirus crisis.

The five-time Ballon d'Or victor showed up for medical tests with the Serie A leaders.

After the tests on Tuesday morning he performed some light training drills on the pitch, focusing on running with some additional work on the ball.

The 35-year-old was earlier pictured arriving and departing the training centre, with Turin-based sports newspaper Tuttosport saying Ronaldo drove in at 9:21am local time before leaving around three hours later.

Cristiano Ronaldo made it no secret of his desire to leave Manchester United in order to join Real Madrid in 2009, according to former team-mate and compatriot Nani.

The club on May 5 announced that some of the players have started training on an individual basis.

Ronaldo played in Juventus' last Serie A game before the season was suspended, a 2-0 win over Inter Milan behind closed doors at the Allianz Stadium on March 8.

League leaders Juventus are leading Lazio by one point as they target a ninth consecutive Scudetto.

The government is still deliberating on whether to allow Serie A to restart but said on Monday that it would not happen before at least June 14, one day after the league had hoped to begin.

This seems to condemn the possibility of seeing the championship resume on June 13 as the League wanted.

Italy remained for several weeks the global epicenter of the Covid-19 pandemic which caused the death of more than 32,000 people on the peninsula.
