Podcaster Joe Rogan Just Struck a $100M Deal

Podcaster Joe Rogan Just Struck a $100M Deal”

Joe Rogan has one of the most popular podcasts in the world, and Forbes figures he made about $30 million previous year off it.

The Joe Rogan podcast and its 11-year library of content will debut on Spotify on September 1, and the library will become exclusive to Spotify later this year. Spotify said that it'll become an exclusive "later this year".

Joe Rogan has struck a deal with Spotify worth more than $100million, giving the streaming giant exclusive rights to his podcast 'The Joe Rogan Experience'. This month alone has seen Rogan sit down with Elon Musk, Patton Oswalt, and Tony Hawk, to name just some.

Rogan noted; "It will be the exact same show".

That is some very exciting news both for Joe Rogan and the world of podcasts! This twin format nature of the exclusivity ties into recent reports of Spotify dipping its toe back into video, specifically with tests around video podcasts that feature Zane & Health: Unfiltered as among the first guinea pigs.

Spotify is assuring fans the Rogan will still maintain full creative control over the show.

"Hello everybody! I have an announcement", Rogan stated. "By partnering with Spotify, Rogan and his team will enjoy the support of the world's leading audio platform". In a statement, Spotify said the following about the deal for the Joe Rogan Experience. Snippets from the show will still be uploaded on to the video streaming service, but the full shows will only be on Spotify.

The show was previously unavailable on Spotify.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

While past Spotify podcast efforts appeared to have been aimed at Apple, this one also seems to be directed toward YouTube.

Shortly after the news dropped, the chief executive of a major podcast company texted me, "Game, set, match". Additionally, the company recently announced that they have acquired exclusivity to Bill Simmon's podcasts from The Ringer.
