CNBC Hosts Kernan, Sorkin Have Explosive Argument on 'Squawk Box'”

Kernen had accused Sorkin of being overly pessimistic about the market. Kernen asked. "Just because they can see what's right in front of their nose?" You missed it 100 percent on the way down! Every single morning on this show.

Mr Sorkin fired back, "Joe, you missed it 100 per cent on the way down too!" However, the COVID-19 U.S. death toll is over 100,000 at this point, so the virus was and is certainly worth taking seriously. I'm not going to do this with you, Joe. Sorkin is a financial columnist for the New York Times, author of the book "Too Big To Fail" and co-creator of the Showtime series "Billions".

"You panicked about the market, you panicked about COVID, you panicked bout the ventilators, you panicked about the PPE, you panicked about ever going out again...", Kernen said. "What good is it?"

Sorkin interjected with clear exasperation: "Joseph, you didn't panic about something".

The exchange quickly spread on social media and some people noted Sorkin's unusual level of outrage.

"A hundred thousand people died, Joe!" Tensions ran hot as Kernen tried to spin the economy's status in a positive light, and the spat eventually peaked as Sorkin accused Kernen of ignoring the coronavirus' death toll to "try and help your friend the president". Every single morning on this show! You used and abused your position!

"That is totally unfair", said Kernen.

Kernen denied trying to help the president and countered that he was trying to help investors navigate the economic downturn caused by the response to the coronavirus pandemic. "And as it turns out, that's what they should have done".

"Hold on! Hold on!" yelled Sorkin.

Kernen said, "If they had listened to you, Andrew, we're supposed to be at about 8,000".

"I wasn't arguing to sell your stocks, Joseph". It doesn't make people good or bad or right to act the way you are. "I'm begging you! Do the news!"
