Pixel Owners, You Definitely Want June's Feature Drop”

Google today announced the third Pixel feature drop, adding adaptive battery improvements, new safety features, and other improvements. You'll be able to set certain tracks before you go to sleep, and if you stay up on your phone past bedtime, you'll receive statistics of how much time you spent awake and on which apps. The Sunrise Alarm feature will show a visual cue as your wake-up time is approaching to help you get up more gently. With the updates to this feature, Google is making it easier to customize when and how Bedtime mode is enabled.

The Clock app on Android is also being updated with a new Bedtime tab.

The final change is for Personal Safety. After the amount of time you set expires, the app will ask for a safety check to make sure you're ok.

Personal Safety improvements. The Personal Safety debuted on Pixel 4 but now it's coming to all supported Pixel devices, and vehicle crash detection is also coming to Pixel 3. If you don't respond to the scheduled check-in, the app will alert your emergency contacts. Just say something like "Hey Google, start recording my meeting".

Android update delivers new ‘Bedtime’ features focused on improving sleep

For Adaptive Battery on Pixel 2 and newer Pixel models, the feature can now predict when your phone's battery will run out and further reduce background activity to keep your phone alive longer.

The Personal Safety app will also let users set notifications for crises, including natural disasters and other public safety concerns. If you need immediate help, you can have the app notify your emergency contacts and share your real-time location with Google Maps so they or someone else can come help you. The OTA should be rolling out in the traditional sense shortly, but in the meantime, you can sideload the update yourself, or peruse the huge list of Pixel functional patches - they're nearly all just fixes, but there's a ton of them.

The June 2020 patch should hit your phone over the next few days, and as always, you can manually check and see if the update is waiting for you. All the new features and improvements included in this update will be rolled out in waves to all compatible Pixel devices starting on June 1.

Nearly all of these updates are coming to the full line of handsets, from the newest Google Pixel 4 to the Google Pixel 2 - sorry, original Pixel owners.
