No additional COVID-19 deaths in B.C. over weekend”

There were 14 new cases between Friday and Saturday, six between Saturday and Sunday, and nine between Sunday and today.

As of Friday, there were 2,632 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province, 193 of which are active.

"If you're already travelling and become ill, you need to isolate and stay away from others same as we do at home", Dr. Henry said.

The outbreak at the New Vista Society, a long-term care centre in Burnaby, is over, as are those at Superior Poultry Processors in Coquitlam and Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry in Chilliwack.

There have been no new COVID-19 related deaths, for a total of 167 deaths in British Columbia.

"Unfortunately our friends in the United States, all of whom are working very, very hard to address COVID-19, nonetheless are dealing with a very difficult situation and one that represents a challenge for all of us".

Monday's update from provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry, which also includes one newly confirmed "epi-linked" case, brings the total number of infections identified since the start of the pandemic to 2,659.

The number of active cases now totals 183, with 16 of those cases in hospitals, and four of those in ICU.

Cases by health region, to date: 907 in Vancouver Coastal; 1,362 in Fraser; 130 in the Vancouver Island; 95 people in Interior; 64 people in Northern.

When you hit the open roads this summer, you are not leaving COVID-19 behind.

Contact the local tourism association or Chamber of Commerce to find out what services are available and what may still be closed. "They've all been able to be traced back to either ongoing outbreaks or clusters that we have recognized in the community".

"We did not have that as part of our initial case report form across the country", she said, though she added data has been gathered on indigenous people in B.C. Our circumstances are unique, but our efforts to keep our loved ones and our communities safe are shared.
