Trump seems ready to battle again over National Football League players kneeling

Trump seems ready to battle again over National Football League players kneeling”

The president was referencing Goodell's apology on the issue of players peacefully protesting, where the commissioner vaguely acknowledged the years-long controversy surrounding players kneeling during the national anthem.

In the video, Goodell admitted the league erred by not listening to previous player protests, which were inspired by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

A "top league source" told Front Office Sports in a story published Monday players "won't be fined or disciplined for demonstrating for racial justice this season".

Others brought up the news that the White House is considering a Trump speech on racial unity, saying they seriously doubt the president could pull it off. Players such as Reid continued to kneel during anthems. Other players soon joined him.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was part of a viral video last week in which National Football League players called on the National Football League to take their concerns about police brutality seriously.

When the National Football League resumes later this year, Goodell will be faced with the same dilemma.

This past week has been a insane one in the NFL, where football players of all backgrounds have taken to social media to denounce police brutality, with many showing up to respective protests in their area to march for Black Lives Matter. Brees said, "I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America".

Jones participated in a pregame kneel down with players at Arizona before all stood for the national anthem.

"We, the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest", Goodell stated in his and the league's most direct language yet on social injustice and police brutality.

"I think the commissioner, after reading what Drew Brees had to say, reacted to that", Patrick said on his show.

The greater question the league should be addressing is how it aims to survive this coming season with the COVID-19 pandemic likely preventing the mass gathering of fans at games (they aren't protesters, after all; they're fans). Your employer can punish you as they see fit if you violate a rule about these sorts of protests. Just a day after the stars posted the video, Goodell was in his basement reading off each statement they demanded to hear.

With Kaepernick back in the spotlight, there's been a renewed call for an National Football League team to sign the former 49ers quarterback.
