Chuba Hubbard threatens Oklahoma State boycott over Mike Gundy's OAN shirt

Chuba Hubbard threatens Oklahoma State boycott over Mike Gundy's OAN shirt”

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy promised to make changes on Monday after star running back Chuba Hubbard threatened to boycott the program over Gundy's support of an extremist news network. It's called OAN. It's called One America News.

The original post by fishing guide Steve Barnes has been deleted.

Following Hubbard's strong criticism of Gundy, current and former teammates backed him up on Twitter Several players then went on to accuse Gundy of past racist behavior.

The video of Gundy and Hubbard seemed to mark a step forward in relations between coach and team. "You know, I'm not someone that you know has to tweet something to make change". And it wasn't Gundy who apologized, but rather Hubbard was the one to say sorry for the tweet. The pair shook hands and gave each other a half-hug at the conclusion of the video.

"In light of today's tweet with the t-shirt I was wearing, I met with some players and realized it's a very sensitive issue with what's going on in today's society", Gundy said in the video.

Before the video was posted, social media reaction was mixed, with many Cowboys fans supporting Hubbard. He spent five years covering TCU athletics, which included two BCS bowls, two trips to the college World Series and the move to the Big 12. And it was so refreshing.

Boone tweeted further to add context, making it clear that this isn't a random shirt to the coach - he's clearly familiar with the network, and has praised it in the past, actually saying that the network reports news without opinion or commentary. There's no left, there's no right. Gundy criticized the "mainstream media" for being too negative with coronavirus coverage. They just reported the news.

"I have been made aware that comments from my press conference have offended some. My first priority is and will always be the student-athletes and doing what is best for the program and the university". "I hope we replace the rage with respect and all come together". He redshirted his first year on campus and would have been eligible to leave early for the National Football League draft, but Hubbard chose to return to Oklahoma State.

Hubbard, the Cowboys' best player, rushed for more than 2,000 yards as a sophomore last season and finished eighth in the voting for the Heisman Trophy.
