There was no bad intent there - the only thing you could accuse us of was greed.

"The thing is, throughout history, from way back with the court jesters in the monarchy, a comedian's job is to flirt with the line of what's acceptable". Is it necessary? Is it kind?', and I think people will do things differently from now on.

Two characters from Little Britain. That doesn't seem like a good plan!'

The show has always been criticised for its use of blackface, as well as its portrayal of gay and disabled characters, with characters played by Lucas and Walliams including an obese Caribbean woman called Desiree DeVere, portrayed in blackface, and a "portly Thai bride" called Ting Tong.

Singing Matt's praises, the Isn't It Romantic star added: 'We lived together for three years.

Actor Rebel Wilson has said she thinks it's "a bit crazy" that Little Britain was pulled from Netflix over the controversy of David Walliams' and Matt Lucas' use of blackface.

"Once again we want to make it clear that it was wrong & we are very sorry".

Lucas posted a similar tweet: "David and I have both spoken publicly in recent years of our regret that we played characters of other races".

"I can't remember how I felt at the time but I've never been a fan of Little Britain".

A source told The Daily Star: 'Netflix bosses were really keen to make a new series of Little Britain.

However, Netflix is yet to provide a comment for the reasons for the removal of the comedy sketch shows. The chances of any revival at this stage are slim-to-none'.

Objections to the show resurfaced amid the current anti-racism protests spearheaded by the Black Lives matter movement, sweeping a number of countries in the wake of the death of African American man George Floyd in police detention in the US.

A BBC spokesperson previously confirmed to Digital Spy that Little Britain was no longer available on iPlayer, noting how "times have changed" since the series first aired.

Both programmes include sketches of the comedians portraying characters and situations of different ethnic backgrounds.
