Arizona Cardinals rookie arrested after allegedly driving auto into Lake Erie”

A receiver for the Arizona Cardinals was arrested Saturday on suspicion of drunken driving after he drove his auto off an embankment and into Lake Erie, according to reports. Police said an orange Chevy Camaro was off the embankment and in the water when they arrived, and nobody else nearby was hurt.

"Police say witnesses told officers that the driver of the Camaro had driven off the embankment and came to rest in the lake, and added Braswell was at a very high rate of speed when he left the roadway".

Braswell told police he did not know how his vehicle ended up in the water, and he submitted to field sobriety tests after officers say he demonstrated slurred speech.

According to a news release from Put-In-Bay Police, "As officers went into the water and approached the Camaro, they found the driver was still in the driver's seat trying to drive forward". He then submitted to field sobriety tests and officers arrested him. The portable breath test Braswell took showed that his blood alcohol content exceeded Ohio's legal limit, police said.

Fortunately, there were no passengers in the vehicle and no one was seriously injured.

Braswell, a Toledo native, was signed by the Cardinals as an undrafted free agent not long after the 2020 NFL Draft.

Braswell grew up in Toledo, about 50 miles from Put-in-Bay, and played his college football at Youngstown State.
