Seales noted "Breonna Taylor's killers have not been arrested".

Michelle Obama presented Beyonce with a Humanitarian Award at the 2020 BET Awards. Girls. And, who helps the world? A remixed version of veteran NY rap group Public Enemy's 1989 anthem "Fight the Power", featuring photos of this month's street protests, opened the show, whose slogan was "Our culture can't be canceled".

"I want to dedicate this award to all of my brothers out there, all of my sisters out there inspiring me, marching and fighting for change", she said. You're proving to your ancestors that their struggles were not in vain. "Now we have one more thing we need to do to walk in our true power, and that is to vote", she said.

The BET Awards aired Sunday from 8 11 p.m. on CBS and BET.

The show also featured a performance by Roddy Ricch, who wore a Black Lives Matter t-shirt, while performing "High Fashion" and "The Box".

There will also be tributes to the late basketball legend Kobe Bryant and iconic singer Little Richard, with performances by rapper Lil Wayne and Wayne Brady.

The early awards of the evening went to singers Megan Thee Stallion for hip-hop artist of the year, Olympic gymnast Simon Biles for female athlete of the year, and LeBron James for sportsman of the year.

This year's virtually produced BET Awards was held on June 28. It was a welcomed break from the "living room" and homebound performances hundreds of artists have shared on social media since the pandemic hit in March.

The Tender Love hitmaker was unveiled as a victor early this morning as the awards took place virtually due to the ravaging Covid-19 pandemic. While she identifies Mutare, a city in the eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe, as her home town, she also spent some of her life in Bulawayo and is now based in South Africa where she has become a household name with her Amapiano hit songs, specifically Tender Love.

Ricch and Megan Thee Stallion follow Drake with five nominations each.

Drake is the leading nominee: He's up for six honors, including video of the year and best male hip-hop artist.

"Oh my God, I probably recorded this video like 10 times". Richh won album of the year for his debut album, "Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial"; Lizzo was named best female R&B/pop artist; and Burna Boy won best global act.

Black power, suffering and the fight for justice took center stage at the BET awards on Sunday, the first Black celebrity event in the United States since nationwide mass protests broke out this month over systemic racism.
