Scottish police killed Friday the suspect of an attack in Glasgow which left six injured, including a member of the police force, in a hotel welcoming refugees and who is not considered to be "Terrorist" by investigators.

Police said the incident was not being treated as terrorism.

Police are responding to a potential major incident believed to involve multiple stabbings in Glasgow, Scotland, Friday.

Police said officers were on the scene within two minutes of the incident being reported.

He is now being treated in hospital and his condition has been updated from "critical but stable" to "stable".

The Park Inn hotel was being used to house asylum seekers during the outbreak, homelessness and human rights charity Positive Action in Housing tweeted.

"The scene we were confronted with is something I will never forget", the 42-year-old said.

Police Scotland Chief Constable Iain Livingstone paid tribute to officers including PC Whyte.

"The situation is contained at this time and there is no danger to the general public", the statement from the Glasgow Police said. Three people died in this incident, while many people were injured.

Nicola Sturgeon wished all those who were injured a "full and speedy recovery".

He went on to thank members of the public and colleagues at Police Scotland for their messages of support, adding: "It means a lot and has brought both myself and my family great comfort at this hard time".

Speaking about his colleague, the chair of the Scottish Police Federation, David Hamilton, described Mr Whyte as someone who was not afraid of running into risky situations.

The incident reportedly took place in a stairwell to a hotel in Glasgow city centre.

"The next room, they were making some noise and he was saying the noise was just to disturb him". He said that the horrific incident in Glasgo has deeply hurt.

"My thoughts are with everyone involved", she wrote on Twitter. Among those stabbed was also a police officer. "They run towards dangers as the rest of us would run away". First and foremost, my thoughts are with the six individuals who have been injured in this incident and who are receiving treatment in hospital for their injuries.

The five other victims are all men, aged 17, 18, 20, 38 and 53, the police said, without revealing their condition. The motive for the attack remains unclear, but police are not treating the investigation as terror-related.
