China's Tianwen-1 Mars rover rockets away from Earth”

NASAs virtual launch experience for Mars 2020 Perseverance rover includes: a behind-the-scenes look at the mission; augmented reality filters; access to an engaging NASA social community; an invitation to submit videos to be part of the televised launch broadcast; tool kits for student; a chance to take a souvenir photo in our Mars Photo Booth; and the opportunity to send your name to Mars!

A Prolonged March 5 rocket blasts off from the Wenchang Satellite Start Center on Hainan Island Thursday carrying China's Mars-sure Tianwen-1 spacecraft on July 23, 2020.

China's rover will be active for roughly 92 Earth days (90 Martian days), according to Chinese news outlet Sixth Tone, and information from the rover will be relayed to Earth via the orbiter, which should be in commission for at least one Martian year (687 Earth days). Each space agency plans to follow up in the years ahead with missions that can go to Mars and return samples back to Earth.

"It's incredible that another nation has launched the case for Mars", said Dr. Katarina Miljkovic, a planetary scientist at Curtin University in Australia. Dozens of other Mars missions have also failed.

The first attempt at recording audio on Mars was the implementation of the Mars Polar Lander of NASA with a microphone.

The country's engineers will believe they are now ready to tackle the infamous "seven minutes of terror" - the time it takes for a spacecraft to make the perilous trip from the top of Mars' atmosphere to the ground.

"The mission takes the next step by not only seeking signs of habitable conditions on Mars in the ancient past, but also searching for signs of past microbial life itself".

NASA has robotic rovers, which are powered by high-tech lithium-ion batteries made by Yardney Technical Products.

It is not China's first attempt at Mars.

Landing on Mars is particularly hard.

In the last 10 years, China has sent two rovers to the moon.

Eight spacecrafts are either orbiting Mars or on its surface with other missions underway or planned from America, Europe and India. In 2019, they followed that success up with the Yutu-2 rover, which became the first spacecraft to softly touch down on the farside of the moon.

In 2011, China made a bid with Russian Federation.

"Scientifically, Tianwen-1 is the most comprehensive mission to investigate the Martian morphology, geology, mineralogy, space environment, and soil and water-ice distribution", the article says. Lots of microbes on Earth create methane, so it is achievable that whiffs of the gas on Mars could be traced to alien lifestyle-forms deep underground.

The American rover is the biggest, heaviest, most advanced vehicle sent to Mars by Nasa.

The mission marked the second flight to Mars this week, after a United Arab Emirates orbiter blasted off on a rocket from Japan on Monday.
