Fleetwood Mac Co-Founder Peter Green Dead at 73

Fleetwood Mac Co-Founder Peter Green Dead at 73”

We hear musicians call themselves, and others, legends all the time. He took Fleetwood and slide guitarist named Jeremy Spencer and named the group after a Green-penned instrumental they recorded while in Mayall's employ, "Fleetwood Mac", in the hopes of enticing McVie to join them.

Lawyers representing the family of Peter Green, the dexterous blues guitarist who led the first incarnation of Fleetwood Mac in a career shortened by psychedelic drugs and mental illness, say he has died.

Solicitors acting on behalf of his family said in a statement: "It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Green announce his death this weekend, peacefully in his sleep".

Singer/songwriter Cat Stevens paid tribute on Twitter to "the ineffable Peter Green", calling him "one of the unsung heroes of musical integrity, innovation and spirit". The statement explains that they will release something more lengthy in the coming days.
