EPL: Man Utd to bring back Alexis Sanchez, Smalling

EPL: Man Utd to bring back Alexis Sanchez, Smalling”

Roma are confident of holding onto Manchester United defender Chris Smalling next season.

Under the current deal, Smalling will return to Old Trafford following the completion of the Giallorossi's Serie A campaign, which ends on the 2nd of August against Juventus.

Smalling's loan was set to originally expire in June, however, the two clubs reached an agreement to extend the deal until the first week of August.

However, purchasing him outright is from next season, so does not fully decide whether Sanchez will be allowed to play the Europa League for Inter.

Both Roma and Inter are yet to play their round of 16 one-legged ties against Sevilla and Getafe respectively. The 2019-20 campaign is now scheduled to last until the beginning of August.

The Chilean forward, who is on loan from Manchester United, is on a staggering £500,000-a-week contract with the Premier League club, but has spent this season in Serie A.

Roma are keen on tying the 30-year-old down to a permanent deal at the Stadio Olimpico.

Sanchez's time in Italy got off to a slow start due to a combination of injuries and the excellent form of fellow forwards Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez at the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Sanchez suffered a serious ankle injury while on global duty with Chile in October.

Roma are a possible semi-final challenger for United while Inter might fulfill Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in the last ought to they advance through to the decider in Cologne on August 21.

If Sanchez is keen to stay in Italy, then he will need to lower down his wages.
