Harry Kane admits Tottenham have not been good enough and must improve”

Jose Mourinho hailed Tottenham's push to seal a spot in the Europa League as the Portuguese manager made sure to point out how much the club has improved since he took over.

Spurs have won five of their last eight Premier League games to move up to seventh in the standings with 58 points, one point and place behind Wolverhampton Wanderers and five points behind Chelsea, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.

It was not done in style after a nervy draw on Sunday at Selhurst Park, where Harry Kane's goal was cancelled out by Jeffrey Schlupp, with Mourinho admitting he was "ultra pragmatic" after he found out Wolves were losing at Chelsea.

The club faces several departures, with Jan Vertonghen and Michel Vorm set to leave, but Mourinho says that he expects to improve the squad this summer.

"So that's where we belong".

"I prefer that it's the club that's going to inform you about (the replacement) that but I prefer to go in the direction of developing local people". I want to have my team, my players, not a medical room full of players, a pitch full of players.

"If I look at the overall picture, I look at it with the feeling of we should have another couple of matches to play, because the team is in a good moment, strong, has no injuries".

"We're going to do what is possible and hopefully next season we can give the fans a very good season". Are we going to pay £100 million ($125m) for a player? No.

"I enjoy working with Steve (Hitchen - Spurs' chief scout) in this organisation".

To secure their place in Europe has to be heralded as an impressive achievement as they were seven points off sixth after defeat to Sheffield United earlier this month, but a six-game unbeaten streak has got them there, even if it is on goal difference. It's been an up and down season so it's nice to finish in the Europa League'.

"But arriving 14th and handling things is not bad at all".
