Sask. reports 37 new COVID-19 cases, numbers jump in Central region”

Warman Mayor Sheryl Spence, the only woman leading a Saskatchewan city, said she feels the province has been revealing more information recently. The release also said residents should wear a mask whenever physical distancing couldn't be maintained.

Fifty-one per cent of cases are females and 49 per cent are males.

Among the cases were 21 from Hutterite colonies in the southwest and west-central regions of the province.

The Saskatchewan government gave an update on new coronavirus cases in the province on Friday, with health officials saying there were 27 new cases.

"As of July 24, there are 189 total cases (active and recovered) in the southwest region: 172 of these are on 11 colonies and 17 are in the general community", the release said. There are 56 active cases in the central region.

Maloney, Kent Muench and Rob Muench said they did not know how many cases had been recorded.

Ten more recoveries were announced on Friday as well, bumping the total number of recoveries up to 848.

There have been 16 COVID-19-related deaths in Saskatchewan.

Of the 42 cases reported, 35 are from colonies in the south, central, Saskatoon and north regions, the province said. Active cases rose by 130, jumping from 128 to 258 in that same time frame.

Nine people are receiving inpatient care, with four in Saskatoon, two in the central region, two in the south and one in Regina.

Twenty-four of the new cases are located in the south region with the rest in the central, north and Regina regions, according to a press release. Another 571 cases are linked to mass gatherings or community contact, and the number of cases with no known exposure rises to 216.

The total includes 59 health-care workers.

To date, 87,988 cases have been performed in the province.

There are 169 cases involving people 19 years old and under.

As of Friday, the south region led the province with 132 active cases as the province reached a new high of 235 active cases in total.
