Covid 19: Malaysia reports 13 new cases today, with one death”

One new death was reported, which raised the death toll in the country from the virus to 124.

Malaysia detected 13 new Covid-19 cases today, down from 23 yesterday, but remained in the double-digit range for the third straight day. Today's fatality is a 63-year-old woman in Kuching that has a history of diabetes, high-blood pressure and hypercholesterolemia.

There are now 173 active cases remaining that are isolated and receiving treatment.

This brings the total of recovery and discharged cases to 8,600. This translated into a mortality rate of 1.39% of overall cases.

The percent of positive COVID-19 cases is trending upwards again after a backlog of 17,000 negative tests caused a significant decrease in the percent positive cases earlier this week.

Of the 10 local transmissions, only one involved a foreigner whose infection was traced to the Bukit Tiram, Johor cluster.

Dr Noor Hisham said one more Malaysian who was infected from a cluster was from the Sentosa cluster in Sarawak. There are now 21 yellow zones in the country. The country has recorded 22 Covid-19 deaths. Fortunately, there are no deaths reported from this cluster.
