Liverpool boss Klopp hails character of Premier League champions

Liverpool boss Klopp hails character of Premier League champions”

Liverpool came from behind to see off Newcastle United this afternoon as the champions rounded out their campaign with a win in the Northeast. It's been a big dream for me coming true. "For all of us, for this lovely club, it's outstanding. I think for all of us, for this handsome club, it's outstanding, and it should spur us on to try even harder to retain the title", he told BT Sport. It's going to be very tough. That's what we did this season. I think he's been sort of forgotten by Liverpool fans this season due to having slightly more fitness issues than normal.

The experienced midfielder put in a fine display, which included an eye-catching stepover midway through the second-half which had Reds fans drooling.

"We want to improve on the way we play and be as consistent as we have been this year. But it's going to be a nice challenge".

- Which Premier League teams have qualified for Europe? "Again, the things around are different, I said that already before the Chelsea game", he told the club's official website . "In the second half especially, we played awesome football, we created chances and it's a well deserved win".

Liverpool recovered after the concession of that opening goal, with Virgil van Dijk hitting back before the break as they went in at the interval 1-1 at St James' Park. "Hopefully we'll be all fresh and ready to go for the new season in a couple of weeks".

Klopp has rested his entire front three so Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino drop out.

"I didn't like the goal we conceded obviously, but it helped. Incredible, really", he added.

"It's far away from being ideal, but it's a good example for what the boys did over the whole season", Klopp said of the comeback win.

"It's easy for me to find plenty of reasons why you should win a football game". They won all the hard games - not all of them, but a lot of them - and today was a hard game.
