In today's daily briefing, B.C reported 131 new cases since Friday.

Provincially, 46 new cases of the virus were reported for a total of 4,111 test-positive cases.

The province processed over 24,500 tests on Tuesday.

The Virginia Department of Health is reporting 102,521 total cases of coronavirus in the commonwealth as of Wednesday morning.

There have been no new community outbreaks, and no new health-care facility outbreaks in the region.

McLean County saw its number of active COVID-19 cases drop for the third consecutive day as the rate of recovery has exceeded the number of new cases. An outbreak at the Krazy Cherry Fruit company in the Interior Health region has been declared over. An announcement with full details is expected in a couple of days.

"I think we've learned from the history so far in the first wave of this pandemic that transparency is critical", said Mehra. "That would not be in compliance with the BCCDC guidelines".

Additionally, there have been 71 cases of COVID-19 in B.C. of people who reside outside of Canada.

"Every case is followed up and linked".

Health officials say that keeping community transmission low will be key to helping schools reopen safely this fall.

Elliott noted that the province had also processed more than 21,500 tests the day previous - well above its own target and the number of daily tests required to detect new outbreaks quickly.

Henry and Dix ask that British Columbians continue to practise physical distancing, stay home if feeling unwell and have a designated "contact keeper" if they go to social gatherings or eat at restaurants.
