Two cases of COVID-19 reported in Niagara on Thursday”

The health minister said all of the public health units affected by the glitch will have transitioned to the province's new reporting system by the end of the day.

"The extensions provide the government with the necessary flexibility to address the ongoing risks and effects of the COVID-19 outbreak and ensure important measures remain in place to protect vulnerable populations", the province noted, in a news release.

Elliott says all 11 impacted units are transitioning to a new updated system Thursday.

Of the regions that reported, no COVID-related deaths were added with the death toll sitting at 2,793.

There have been 41,048 cases reported in the province so far, and of those, 37,291 are reported recovered (90.8 per cent) and 2,793 have ended in death (6.8 per cent).

Of the health units that did report new cases for today's provincial summary, Toronto reported the highest with 21 new cases, followed by Peel reporting 19 new cases, and Ottawa reporting 11 new cases.

The last confirmed positive test for COVID-19 in Grey-Bruce was reported on August 13.

"While not a direct proxy for today, it's an indication of how many cases may be under-reported", Elliott wrote on Twitter.

All regions have now entered Stage 3 of the province's reopening plan, which included the reopening of gyms, indoor dining at bars and restaurants and many facial services. Eleven new cases were reported in people under the age of 20, while 11 were recorded in those over the age of 60.

She adds the province processed almost 26,000 tests over the last day.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, 22,104 test samples are still under investigation.
