Quebec reports 74 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death linked to virus”

South Africa's confirmed COVID-19 cases have surpassed 600,000, the health ministry said on Friday, although the number of new cases has been declining since a peak in July.

The province posted 104 new cases within the past 24 hours, up from 93 the day before.

The number of people who recovered from their COVID-19 infections rose to 871,590 as of Thursday, said Africa CDC, a specialized healthcare agency of the African Union (AU) Commission, in its latest situation update. One person is in in-patient care and four are in intensive care.

Investigations completed thus far have found that 69 of 106 active cases are in communal living settings.

Santé Montreal said there have been no COVID-19-related deaths in children (under the age of 18) in Canada since the start of the pandemic.

South Africa now has the most COVID-19 cases, which hit 596,060.

Anyone on WestJet Flight WS452 seated in rows 1-5 should self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.

On Friday, the province announced there was possible exposure on a flight from Calgary to Saskatoon on August 9.
