Laura’s remnants could produce strong storms in the Midlands Saturday

Laura’s remnants could produce strong storms in the Midlands Saturday”

The current track remains stable for Hurricane Laura, heading east across the bottom quarter of the state.

Fitzgerald said the rain should be welcome in parts of central and western Pennsylvania that have been experiencing a drought.

All eyes on Laura...which is expected to move right over the Heartland on Friday as a weakening tropical depression.

Kole Fehling, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Memphis, says two to four inches of rain are possible in Shelby County, along with gusty winds. Today will be a warm, humid and mostly quiet day with only isolated showers and storms expected. "Any rainfall we get should wrap up sometime Saturday morning and then we start to dry out". As that cold front pushes southward and some humid flow pushes northward from the ocean, we could see some strong to severe storms.

"That was one of the most unique events in Ohio's weather history", he said.

The National Weather Service's forecast calls for highs in the 80s Friday before things cool into the 70s on Saturday and Sunday.

"It'll be nice and refreshing, definitely more like early September", he said.
