In a video message, the minister said two crucial exams, the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical courses, are being held to ensure that students don't lost an academic year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

For the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE)-Main, around 8.58 lakh candidates have registered for the NEET exam, 15.97 lakh students have registered. I am happy that over 7,77,465 students have downloaded their admit cards. "I am happy that almost all students have downloaded their admit cards and there is enthusiasm among students", he said. JEE Mains are important as they are also a gateway to premiere IITs.

Students will be given three layered masks and gloves once they reach the Centre where hand sanitisers will be freely available, it said.

The NTA has taken several measures to keep in mind and has also increased the number of examination centres from 570 to 660.

To ensure proper social distancing inside examination halls, candidates will be seated in alternate seats in case of JEE (Main).

The NTA has made a staggered seating arrangement to follow social distancing guidelines and a large number of students were given centres in their first choice of cities.
